This 'Star of the Year' event has been held every December each year, and has evolved into a star's popularity poll, since 2008. At that time, about 500 million netizens voted to support the site and exposed the 'fierce' affection to one particular star. This is a well known event especially among the Chinese fans.

This year, there are six categories in progress to vote. In Boy Group category, Beast, SHINee, CNBlue, 2AM, 2PM were nominated, and in Girl Group category Miss A, Girls, Sistar, Orange Caramel, Kara, 2Ne1 are the candidates. In Solo Singer category, BoA, Rain, Seven, Son Dam Bi, IU, Lee are competing.

From actor section there are Kang Dong Won, KO SOO, Park Si Hoo, Won Bin. And for the actress section, Moon Geun-young, Park Min Young, Lee Na Young are the candidates. Hallyu star Kwon Sang-woo, Rain, Song Seung Hun, Lee was nominated for two categories.

In drama category, The Fugitive : Plan B, Sungkyunkwan Scandal, Secret Garden, Cinderella Sister, King of Baking Kim Tak Goo were nominated. And from the movie section there are Ahjussi, The States, Moss, and the Servant as nominees.

Candidates were chosen by Finance Daily based on the number of entertainment articles as resources in internet and were selected by the opinions of journalists.

Netizens can participate only in some areas, and to prevent unfair ballot they're not required to login but to enter a security key instead. Security keys must be case-sensitive.

The event is expected to run until 12 o'clock, December 30, 2010.
